PROFILE

PierLuigi Ausonio graduated in Naval Architecture & Mechanical Engineering at Genoa University in 1981.

He early joined Cantieri Navali Riuniti (later Fincantieri - Naval Vessels Division) in Genoa Head Office at R&D Department and was involved in the hydrodynamic design of hulls and propellers for several vessels, for the Italian and overseas Navies, including: Fast Attack Crafts, Patrol Boats, Corvettes, Destroyers, Landing Ships, Oceanographic Vessels and Submarines.

In 1989 he began working as an independent Naval Architect, consultant and designer for some of the leading Italian Shipyards (AZIMUT-BENETTI, CODECASA, MONDO MARINE, RODRIQUEZ, BAGLIETTO, CANTIERI DI LAVAGNA, CANADOS, PERINI NAVI, PICCHIOTTI, SANLORENZO, OVERMARINE and others) and as propeller designer for DETRA Custom Propellers.

In the period from 2003 to 2012 he was partner in two Naval Architecture and Marine Engineering companies, based in Genoa and in Savona. Currently he works as P.L.A.N.A.Design (PierLuigi Ausonio Naval Architecture), studio based in Sanremo.

He is specialized in the field of Naval Architecture and Applied Hydrodynamics and is co-author of several papers presented to International Symposia.
